New Product: Are You My Mother?

This may be my new favorite bunting! I've always loved the story "Are You My Mother" so I decided to use it to make a bunting. I paired the book pages with brown craft paper & mint green scrapbook paper. I love how it turned out! Check it out in my shop {here}.

Shavings & Sawdust

My husband just opened up his own Etsy shop! He's been making wooden spoons to give as gifts for a couple of years now. One year he made enough spoons, spatulas & scoops to fill my Christmas stocking & they are by far the best, most useful gift I've received! I love that he took so much time & that they turned out so beautifully! I love handmade gifts! So, now you have the opportunity to give & receive these beautiful spoons for yourself! His shop name is Shavings & Sawdust. He chose the name because "That's what I make the most." I have to leave you with some images of my favorite spoons! Links to each spoon are above each picture.

New in my shop

I've been working on some new items for my Etsy shop! The latest additions include this 4 pack of Harry Potter buntings.
Also new in the shop are these Happy Birthday buntings. They have 8 colors of the rainbow & "Happy Birthday" painted in black. They are so cheerful! I might just have to leave one hanging in my dining room this week, since my birthday is coming up!

Ready for Valentine's Day

I've been getting my shop ready for Valentine's Day by making lots of different heart garlands! I love how simple these are, but they add just the perfect touch of whimsy to any space! I also love that the heart garlands can be used for other events, like baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, or just to brighten your home. I recently made some heart garland with the colors of the rainbow, paired with dictionary hearts, to decorate my girls' room. It looks fabulous & is so cheery hanging on the wall!

Comic Book Bunting

A friend from church recently asked if I could do a custom order for a birthday party she has coming up. She wanted 5 yards of comic book bunting. She supplied the comic books & even had them cut into the triangles, and I made the bias tape & sewed them all together. Mingled with the pages from comic books were coordinating triangles of solid colored card stock. I think they turned out fabulously! Here are a couple of pictures! What do you think?

Winnie the Pooh Garland

A while ago at a thrift store, I came across an old, very well-loved copy of The House at Pooh Corner by A. A. Milne. It was missing most of the cover & some of the pages were torn, so I decided to rescue it and give it new life. I've been using it to make my paper garlands, and love the vintage feel it gives to them. Today I finished making some garland using the Winnie the Pooh pages & white paper.

I've listed the garland in my Etsy shop & can make more as necessary! I also have Winnie the Pooh garland with pink card stock circles.

Etsy Success

I've been keeping pretty busy lately as I've had 5 different orders, 3 of them being custom orders, from my Etsy shop. I was telling my husband last night that it sure is nice to have a hobby that starts to pay for itself! I'm not really expecting to make tons of money with this business, though of course that would be nice, I really just enjoy getting to create something every day, and help to make other people's lives a little more crafty! I've been a little surprised that my best sellers so far have been my paper creations rather than some of my fabric items. So far, I've sold 131 yards of paper garland & just yesterday sold 12 yards of bunting. I had my first international sale, and have really enjoyed working on various custom orders. I love making the garlands with paper hearts, which is perfect for Valentine's Day coming up! This week I worked with a woman who asked me to make a heart garland made out of maps & I think it turned out beautifully. Here are some pictures of what I've been making lately. What's your favorite?

I'm back & have an update

Well hello my long ignored blogging friends! I've been super busy lately. Mostly I've been making crafts, sewing, & making more crafts. I was getting ready for my first craft fair. Yeah, it didn't go well. But thanks for asking.  Since this was my first fair, I really had no idea what to sell, how much to sell it for, or how many layers of clothes I should wear. Now that it's over, I can definitely look back & say that I was catering to the wrong age group. I had lots of items for children (only saw a handful of kids at the fair, and only a few younger women), and while I absolutely love all the things I had for sale, others clearly didn't share my love.
So, now that the fair is over, I decided to try selling my crafts in my Etsy shop. I'm giving Etsy another go, so hopefully I'll have a bit more success than I did at the craft fair! So here's a link to my {shop}. Please check out my listings, and maybe {if you love me} you could come back and tell me what you think. I'd love some feedback! Here are a few pictures of my favorite items! Enjoy!

New Item for Sale

I just finished a receiving blanket & burp cloths set & they are now available in my Etsy shop. Go check it out! I will have more colors & fabrics for sale soon (as fast as I can with a teething infant), so let me know if you want something specific. These would make a great gift for a new mommy!

Addition to my shop

I want to create your announcement or card! I love to do digital scrapbooking, & also enjoy making baby announcements, graduation announcements, baby & bridal shower invites, etc. I have added some samples to my Etsy store of a few cards I made just to show what I can do. Everything is fully customizable, including paper, fonts, colors, everything. You'll just have to send me your picture(s), tell me the info you want on the card,  & specify a color scheme if you wish. I'll make a proof of your card, email it to you to get your approval, then email you the actual file for you to take to your local photo printing store to get as many copies as you'd like.
