I've had a few people asking recently about the digital scrapbooking supplies that I use to make my scrapbook pages. The way I do things really doesn't tend to take a whole lot less time than regular scrapbooking, because that's the way I like to do it. I've seen other people who also do digital scrapbooking, but keep it much simpler. It's really up to you as to how complicated you want to make it. Blurb, the book printing website I'll be using, has a free program download that has templates & guides to help you create your photo book, which makes things really easy. Just do what you know you have time for, or else you won't get anything done for being overwhelmed by everything.
I've gotten the majority of my papers & embellishments from Shabby Princess. The kits are really nice. They also have supplies you can buy, but I usually just use whatever I can find for free. I also found a website that sends a daily email with a free download and the things they send aren't too bad. It's digital scrapbook experts and you just have to sign up for the free daily emails. Another place I get a few things is designer digitals. You have to register on the site to get the freebies, but they have new papers & embellishments every few days and it's free to sign up. I actually just found another site that has free downloads today: peppermint creative. I really just find the things I use by searching Google for digital scrapbooking freebies.
I use Adobe Photoshop Elements as my editing program. I basically just open up one of the scrapbook papers, add my pictures & elements, then save it as a jpg file, which can then be printed as a photo, or added to my photo book. There are other programs (my Mom uses one called Picture It) that you can also use, but I've found that Elements is so much better than any of the photo programs that came installed on my computer. I got mine on Amazon for a much better price than they have in stores.
Eventually, when I have enough pages done, I will have them printed into a book. I will use Blurb, which has a free scrapbooking program you can download to your computer and then order the book from the website. They have really reasonable prices. I was wondering what program if any you use as your base? I want to start but I'm not really sure about programs and what all it would take to get started. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, hope everything is going well with Sharon at home now.

Hi Caitlin! I've been following Sharon's progress on your blog and am so glad she's home and doing well! We had dinner with Mel and Ruth this week and they say Sharon is just adorable and so sweet!
I was excited to find a family member that scrapbooks digitally! I've been doing it since 2003, when everyone else I knew was paper scrapping. I love digital! I also use Adoble Elements and love it. I just purchased Elements 8, but haven't installed it yet, I'm still using my old favorite 5.
I too, love Shabby Princess, I think I have all her free kits, some from way back before she started selling!

So far, I've printed out my pages at home, I reduce to 8 x 8 to print. I've been thinking about trying out Shutterfly and getting a book printed, let me know how your pages turn out.
