An announcement

Well, if you haven't heard by now, which I'm sure most of you haven't, we have an announcement in our family. She came a little over 3 months early.
Meet Sharon Wilhelm.
Born: August 30th, 2009 at 3:33 AM
Weight: 1 lb. 12 oz.
Length: 13 1/2 inches I started having contractions on Saturday night. Once I figured out what I was feeling, we called the after hours number at my doctor's office & he recommended I go to the hospital to get checked out. They got me settled & the nurse checked my cervix. I was already dilated 8 cm.
They immediately transferred me to a labor & delivery room & called the doctor, who just happened to be LDS. A couple hours later I was dilated to a 10 & they broke my water. She was born early Sunday morning & was immediately taken to be put on a breathing machine. Then she was air evacuated to Maricopa Medical in Phoenix. I was discharged at about 7:00 AM Sunday morning (yes, insanely quickly!). We got a couple hours sleep, then packed and headed to Phoenix. We got to the hospital at about 4:00 where we saw our little girl all hooked up to all kinds of machines. She is very stable & doing well! She kicks a lot & her color is good. She tries to breathe on her own a lot, though she does get tired & is always hooked up to the ventilator & oxygen. She is doing well, & we are so thankful for all the prayers that have been offered in our behalf.
I took this picture today. Her color is good & her head is more normally shaped now. She did have some bruising on her head from delivery, but it is getting better. She is a very active baby & likes to kick & wave her arms. She is such a sweet little thing, & full of spice!
Here is a picture of me with her footprint card. Yes, they are tiny, I know!
I am doing great, actually feeling a whole lot better than I have been for the last 2 weeks. All the soreness is gone, & I really am feeling great! If you have any questions feel free to ask. We certainly don't have all the answers & are certainly relying on the Lord. We know that all things are in His hands. We hope & pray that we will get to keep our little Shari in this life, but know that if He has other plans we will see her again in the next life.
Welcome to our hearts Sharon!

Caitlin,

I am glad she is okay and will be praying that she continues to grow and develop and get strong.

I hope you have family close by, but if you don't and you need anything, I am only a short drive away from Maricopa Medical.

You don't know me, but we have a mutual friend, Morgan Whipple. (And I know Paul Wellman. We grew up together. Small Mormon world.) My daughter was born at 30 weeks and was 2 lbs 12 oz. She was in the hospital for 54 days. I know what you're going through. You have the right attitude to turn to the Lord. I know for a fact I never could have gotten through that time without that comfort. The power of prayer during that time was such a tangible thing for me. Your family is in my family's prayers. Just take it one day at a time. She will have good days and bad days and so will you. Those little babies are much stronger than they look.

Caitlin and Ammon, I am a friend of Breanne's and Chester's and my daughter and I have been praying for baby Sharon. Today, I had extra prayers requested by my entire church for her. I of course will keep the two of you in my prayers as well. Can't wait till you get to hold your little bundle of joy and take her home!

Prayers and best wishes to you and your family. Shari is beautiful!! She has such long fingers. A future piano player!! :) It's such a comfort to have the Gospel in our lives when trials come our way. I know that Heavenly Father is watching over her day and night. Good luck and best wishes in the days to come!!

She's so sweet (and tiny!). If she's half Wylie, she'll be a fighter and do just fine. Mark weighed just about that same (about 2 lbs) when he was born, and he's fine (I didn't say normal!! LOL!) and that was 56 years ago....medicine has come a LONG way since then. You're all in our thoughts and prayers.
